Trump Lies & Tweets (Inauguration Crowd Size) 1/21/17

On Saturday, January 21, 2017, Donald Trump, talking about his inauguration:

… claimed that the crowd for his swearing-in stretched down the National Mall to the Washington Monument and totaled more than 1 million people.

That is a lie.

According to the New York Times, Keith Still, a professor at Manchester Metropolitan University in England, estimates that the crowd on the National Mall on Friday was about one-third the size of President Obama’s in 2009.

So, Donald Trump keeps lying… and, we keep counting.

Trump Lies & Tweets (Jobs) January 8,2017

On Sunday, January 8th,  Donald Trump told the following to a New York Times reporter regarding jobs...

It's finally happening - Fiat Chrysler just announced plans to invest $1BILLION in Michigan and Ohio plants, adding 2000 jobs.

This is a lie.

Chrysler’s announcement to create 2,000 jobs in Ohio and Michigan with a $1 billion investment was part of a larger “industrialization plan” that the company announced as part of a labor deal with the United Auto Workers back in 2015

So, Donald Trump keeps lying… and, we keep counting.

Trump Lies & Tweets (GM Chevy Cruze) 1/03/17

In a tweet on Tuesday, January 3rd , Donald Trump wrote the following:

“General Motors is sending Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze to U.S. car dealers-tax free across border… Make in U.S.A. or pay big border tax!”

That is a lie.

GM actually does make the Chevy Cruze in the U.S., at a plant in Lordstown, Ohio. It produces a hatchback version in Mexico that it mostly sells in other countries.
GM spokesman Patrick Morrissey said in an emailed statement that “All Chevrolet Cruze sedans sold in the U.S. are built in GM’s assembly plant in Lordstown,

Trump Lies & Tweets (Sprint Jobs) 12/28/16

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, December 28th , Donald Trump said the following:

“I was just called by the head people at Sprint and they’re going to be bringing 5,000 jobs back to the United States…I just spoke with the head person “he said because of me they’re doing 5,000 jobs in this country.”

That is a lie.

Sprint later said that the jobs were part of a previously announced commitment by Japan’s SoftBank. Softbank owns a controlling stake in the mobile phone carrier and previously said it would invest $50 billion in the United States and create 5,000 positions.
Although Trump claimed credit for SoftBank’s $50 billion investment in the United States, those plans predated the election,

Trump Lies & Tweets 12/26/16

In a tweet on Monday, December 26th , Donald Trump wrote the following about his foundation:

The DJT Foundation, unlike most foundations, never paid fees, rent, salaries or any expenses. 100% of money goes to wonderful charities!

That is a lie.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation admitted to the Internal Revenue Service just last year that it engaged in “self-dealing,” a prohibited practice in which a nonprofit leader uses an organization’s money to benefit his or her own interests.
Plus, the Trump Foundation has already admitted that some of its money covered non-charitable expenses.Trump used foundation money to buy giant portraits of himself... to make illegal campaign contributions... to settle private-sector lawsuits... and to support conservative political entities that could help further his partisan ambitions.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that he would dissolve his namesake foundation to avoid any potential conflict of interest during his time as president. But, that cannot happen because the Trump Foundation is still under investigation by the office of New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman... and cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete.
So, the Trumpster keeps lying… and, we keep counting.

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. — Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s Minister of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment
